SteamOS installation

Controls in Desktop Mode on Steam Deck: the right trackpad moves the pointer, R2 is a click, L2 is a right-click, STEAM + X opens the on-screen keyboard. On a Steam Machine you can also use a mouse and keyboard.

1. Switch to Desktop Mode: press the STEAM button → Power → Switch to Desktop. After a few seconds the Windows-like desktop opens.
2. Open a web browser. If there is none yet: open Discover (the shopping bag icon in the taskbar), search for Firefox and press Install.
3. In the browser go to exileassistant.com and press “Download for SteamOS”. The file ExileAssistant.Updater is saved to the Downloads folder.
4. Open the file manager Dolphin (the folder icon in the taskbar) and go to Downloads.
5. Right-click ExileAssistant.Updater → Properties → Permissions → tick “Is executable” (or “Allow executing file as program”) → OK. This is needed only once.
6. Double-click ExileAssistant.Updater. The installer window opens: press Install and wait until it reaches 100 %. Exile Assistant starts by itself and appears in the menu (Games → Exile Assistant).
7. In Exile Assistant open Licence → “Add to Steam library”.
8. Return to Gaming Mode: double-click “Return to Gaming Mode” on the desktop. In the Steam library open Non-Steam and start Exile Assistant — it runs full screen and is controlled with the controller.
